Funding approved for Sports Hall Refurbishment in Plas Madoc

Plas Madoc is set to get a refurbished Sports Hall thanks to a £50,000 grant from funding body WREN.

The money, awarded by WREN’s FCC Community Action Fund, will be used to replace the Sports Hall Floor, add improve netting, provide replacement equipment and replacement lights with LEDs atPlasMadoc Leisure Centre in Acrefair, Wrexham.

Stella Matthews - Chairman of the Splash Community Trust, which operates PlasMadoc believes the facility will make a huge difference to the lives of people living in the area.

She says: “This project will provide a real boost to the people of Wrexham. It’s fantastic that WREN has awarded us this money and we’re really looking forward to our Sports Hall refurbishment taking shape over the next few months”

WREN is a not-for-profit business that awards grants for community, biodiversity and heritage projects from funds donated by FCC Environment through the Landfill Communities Fund.

Stella Matthews hopes the Sports Hall will be ready to use by September. The Hall which is a very popular facility at the centre is in much need of refurbishment after years of use by the local community, and we look forward to welcoming users back when the work is complete
